Palm Digital Media: DropBook - Introduction

Here you will find links, downloads, information and everything else you need to make books for the Palm Reader.

Palm DropBook is a simple application for Windows and Macintosh which allows you to convert a text file formatted using the Palm Markup Language into a Palm OS .pdb file which can be read with the Palm Reader application.

For desktop computers which do not run the Windows or Macintosh operating systems, the Java version of MakeBook is still available, but is no longer being updated. An appropriate Java Virtual Machine (JVM) is required to use MakeBook. The Download page contains links to various JVMs.

Note that both DropBook and MakeBook are provided as-is, with no warranty express or implied as to the fitness of the software for any purpose. Since the software is free for non-commercial uses, we reserve the right to provide no tech support or bug fixes.

How can I add a Move to Folder option to the context menu?

A. Its possible to add a context menu option to move a file to a folder by adding the following registry key:

  1. Start the registry editor (Regedit.exe)
  2. Move to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AllFilesystemObjects\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers
  3. From the Edit menu select New - Key
  4. Enter a name of 'Move To' (don't type the quotes) and press Enter
  5. Move to the 'Move To' :-) key and double click on the (Default) value
  6. Set to {C2FBB631-2971-11D1-A18C-00C04FD75D13}. Click OK
  7. Close the registry editor
  8. Restart Explorer for the change to take effect (you don't need to reboot)

If you now right click on a file/folder an option to move to folder will be listed.

Click here to download a reg file which makes the change automatically.
