Pocket PC Thoughts - ActiveSync 4.0: No More WiFi Sync

Pocket PC Thoughts - ActiveSync 4.0: No More WiFi Sync:

One of the things that people are starting to discover as they read through some of the articles is that WiFi synchronization is no longer an option with ActiveSync 4.0. You can still WiFi sync against an Exchange server from the Pocket PC, but the ability to wirelessly synchronize with your local PC no longer exists. As a group, the Windows Mobile MVPs lobbied hard against the lack of this feature, but ultimately we made no progress. I won't presume to speak for Microsoft on exactly why this feature isn't there, but ActiveSync 4.0 no longer has the ability to accept any form of remote TCP/IP connections. So no WiFi, CAT5, VPN over LAN, GPRS, etc. It simply won't work. Myself, I see this as a serious problem and it will impact my use of the devices - but this may affect less people than I think it will, so it's survey time. Let me know what you think about this.

The Antec Phantom 500 is a new, more powerful power supply based on the fanless Phantom 350 that we reviewed last September. Antec's 350W fanless PSU recorded the highest peak efficiency we've ever seen, a whopping 88%. The most visible difference between the two models appears to be the addition of a fan in the 500 that turns on only at higher wattages to provide the extra capacity required to support 500W output. Antec describes this as a Hybrid Fan technology.

Plenty has been said about performance-enhancing drugs this spring. Well, get ready for a new wave of performance enhancers, only these do not cause side effects and are not subject to suspensions. Known as performance-enhancing contact lenses, they were designed to help hitters pick up the seams on the ball better and to protect the eyes from the sun...

...Seven years in the making by Nike and Bausch & Lomb, the lenses — which will be known in the retail world as MaxSight — are so new they have made their way only into a few major league clubhouses so far...
