Walking past the impressive collection of wrinkled mechanical gypsy fortunetellers and cavorting wooden barbershop quartets, I had a sudden feeling of familiarity. At first I assumed it was just a dim recollection of childhood, when I was regularly beaten by fortunetellers and barbershop quartet singers, but then I recognized it as something more: I realized that every major advance and genre in video gaming is actually a direct rip-off of these early diversions.
